1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
-
1 tsp mustard
-
1/2 small onion, finely chopped
-
Salt & pepper to taste
For the gravy:
-
1 tbsp butter
-
1 tbsp flour
-
1 cup beef stock (or 1 bouillon cube dissolved in hot water)
-
1 tsp soy sauce
-
1/2 tsp Worcestershire sauce
-
Freshly ground black pepper
To serve:
-
2 cups cooked white rice (jasmine or short grain)
-
2 eggs
-
Optional garnish: chopped green onions or crispy fried onions
Instructions:
-
Make the patties:
Mix all the patty ingredients well. Shape into two large, even-sized burger patties.
Cook in a skillet over medium-high heat for about 4–5 minutes per side, or until fully cooked and browned. -
Prepare the gravy:
In a small saucepan, melt the butter. Add the flour and stir constantly until it turns golden brown.
Slowly whisk in the beef stock until smooth.
Add the soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, and pepper. Let it simmer until slightly thickened. -
Fry the eggs:
In a nonstick pan, fry the eggs sunny-side up or to your liking. Runny yolks are traditional! -
Assemble the dish:
Place a generous scoop of rice on a plate or bowl.
Top with the burger patty.
Pour warm gravy over the top.
Finish with a fried egg on top of everything. -
Optional garnishing:
Sprinkle with chopped scallions or crispy onions for extra texture and flavor.
Tip:
For a gourmet twist, drizzle with a touch of truffle oil, spicy mayo, or serve with a side of pickled ginger or grilled pineapple slices.
