Recipe Description
A homemade burger with a fried egg is the perfect combination of a juicy beef patty, melted cheese, caramelized onions, and a soft, runny egg yolk that adds rich flavor and velvety texture to every bite.
Inspired by the culture of American comfort food, this burger is an ideal choice for brunch, a relaxed meal, or a hearty dinner with a distinctive character.
Ingredients
For the burgers:
- 2 brioche buns or soft burger buns
- 300 g ground beef
- 2 slices cheddar cheese
- 2 eggs
- 1 large onion
- 2 lettuce leaves
- 2 tomato slices
- 2–4 slices bacon (optional)
- Butter for the buns
- Salt & pepper
For the sauce:
- 3 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tsp mustard
- 1 tsp ketchup
- A pinch of smoked paprika or a few drops of hot sauce
Instructions
- Prepare the caramelized onions: Slice the onion thinly and sauté it over low heat with a little butter. Allow it to cook slowly for about 15–20 minutes until golden and sweet.
- Prepare the patties: Divide the ground beef into two equal portions and shape the patties gently without pressing the meat too much. Season with salt and pepper just before cooking.
- Cook the patties: Cook the patties in a hot skillet or grill for about 3–4 minutes on each side. Just before they are ready, place the cheese on top and allow it to melt.
- Toast the buns: Spread a little butter on the inside of the buns and lightly toast them in a pan until golden and crisp.
- Prepare the eggs: In a non-stick frying pan, fry the eggs until the yolks remain soft and runny.
- Assemble the burger: Spread the sauce on the bottom buns. Add the lettuce, the beef patty with melted cheese, the caramelized onions, the bacon, and finally the fried egg. Finish with the tomato slices and the top bun.
- Serving: Serve immediately while the burger is still warm and let the runny yolk add even more richness and texture to every bite.
Enjoy!
