Gingerbread Cookies: Sweet Creations for the Holidays!

Warm, fragrant gingerbread cookies that fill your home with Christmas aromas. The best recipe to make with your family.

Ingredients for the cookies

  • 360 gr all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp ground ginger
  • 1/3 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt (tip of a teaspoon)
  • 170 gr unsalted butter
  • 150 gr light brown sugar
  • 110 gr dark brown sugar 
  • 1 medium egg
  • Seeds from 1 vanilla pod

Ingredients for the icing

  • 460 gr powdered sugar
  • 60 gr egg whites (approximately 2 medium egg whites)
  • 2 tsp (10 g) lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Cream the butter and both types of sugar in a mixer until fluffy.
  2. Add the egg, followed by the remaining ingredients except for the flour, and continue mixing.
  3. Gradually add the flour and mix on low speed until the dough forms a cohesive texture.
  4. Place the dough between two sheets of parchment paper and roll it out to a 1.5 cm thick sheet. Chill in the refrigerator for 4 hours.
  5. Preheat the oven to 160°C (320°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  6. Use cookie cutters to shape the dough and place the cookies on the tray.
  7. Bake for 18-20 minutes, let cool completely, and decorate with icing.

For the icing

  1. Whisk together powdered sugar, egg whites, and lemon juice until smooth.
  2. Place the mixture in a cornet bag and decorate the cookies.
