Crème Caramel: A Silky, sweet indulgence!

Crème caramel is a dessert beloved in many kitchens around the world. With its creamy texture and sweet flavor, this egg-based recipe is the perfect choice for a dessert that will impress!

Ingredients:

  • 4 eggs
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 vanilla pod or 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup sugar for the caramel

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 160°C (320°F).
  2. In a saucepan, place 1/2 cup of sugar and heat over medium heat until it melts and turns into caramel (be careful not to burn it).
  3. Once the caramel reaches a golden color, carefully pour it into the bottom of the molds (or baking dish) you’re using for the crème caramel.
  4. In a bowl, whisk the eggs with the remaining 1 cup of sugar and vanilla until the mixture is smooth and fluffy.
  5. Heat the milk in a saucepan (do not let it boil), and slowly pour it into the egg mixture, stirring constantly.
  6. Pour the mixture into the molds over the caramel.
  7. Place the molds in a large baking dish and add water around them (about halfway up the sides of the molds).
  8. Bake for 45-50 minutes or until the custard is set and a toothpick comes out clean from the center.
  9. Allow the crème caramel to cool and then refrigerate it for at least 2 hours before serving.
  10. To serve, run a knife around the edges of the molds and carefully invert them onto a plate.
