Crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, Belgian waffles are the ultimate treat. Served with powdered sugar or chocolate, they elevate any breakfast or dessert!
Ingredients (Makes 10):
- 500 gr all-purpose flour
- 80 gr sugar
- 2 tsp dry yeast
- 150 ml lukewarm water
- 2 eggs
- 190 g unsalted butter, diced and at room temperature
- 180 g pearl sugar
For serving:
- Powdered sugar or melted chocolate
Instructions
- Prepare the dough: Dissolve the yeast in lukewarm water. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, eggs, and butter. Add the yeast mixture and stir to form a soft, sticky dough.
- Rest the dough: Add the remaining flour and butter. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it rest for 20 minutes. Knead again until the dough is smooth and no longer sticky.
- Shape and cook the waffles: Roll the dough into a 30×30 cm square, sprinkle with pearl sugar, and roll it into a log. Cut into 100 gr pieces and let rest for 20 minutes.
- Heat the waffle iron, place a dough ball inside, and cook for about 2 minutes until golden brown and caramelized.
Serve warm with powdered sugar or melted chocolate.
