Iced Christmas Cookies: A festive holiday favorite

Description

Iced Christmas cookies are a true holiday classic. Buttery, lightly crisp, and perfect for decorating, they turn baking into a joyful, creative moment that feels just as festive as the final result.

Ingredients

For the cookies:

  • 250 g butter, at room temperature
  • 150 g powdered sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 400 g all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt

For the icing:

  • 200 g powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tsp water or lemon juice
  • Food coloring (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the oven: Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and line a baking tray with parchment paper.
  2. Make the dough: Beat the butter and powdered sugar until creamy. Add the egg and vanilla and mix well.
  3. Add the dry ingredients: Combine flour, baking powder, and salt, then gradually add to form a soft dough.
  4. Shape the cookies: Roll out the dough to about 0.5 cm thick and cut with festive cookie cutters.
  5. Bake: Bake for 10–12 minutes until the edges are lightly golden. Let cool completely.
  6. Icing & decoration: Mix powdered sugar with water or lemon juice until smooth and slightly thick. Decorate the cookies and let the icing dry.

Tip: Add sprinkles or sugar decorations for an extra festive look.

Enjoy!
